Ms Beatrice Nyandat is currently Deputy Director of Fisheries at the State Department for Fisheries, Aquaculture and the Blue Economy. She represents the country at the international level to sketch the fisheries and aquaculture progress in many international forums. She handles affairs of government, which involves the framing and implementation of fisheries and aquaculture policy in consultation with the relevant stakeholders.

Her experience of over 30 years spans the science-policy interface, across a number of regional, national and international fisheries and aquaculture management areas, including working with several projects for government and FAO. She has been actively involved in the process to develop Kenya's National Aquaculture Strategy and Development Plan, Aquaculture Policy and Aquaculture Regulations including the revision of the National Oceans and Fisheries Policy. She works to ensure that aquaculture is developed and managed in a sustainable manner. Her expertise encompasses aquaculture environmental management; feasibility study, planning and coordination of aquaculture projects; and development of policies.
