SENIOR POLICY ADVISOR

Danielle Blacklock serves as the Senior Policy Advisor for aquaculture at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA) National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS). In this role, Danielle develops strategies for how to grow the domestic marine aquaculture industry and works across the United States federal government to operationalize them.

Danielle has also spent time working for FAO, on a rotational assignment from NOAA to work on international aquaculture issues as a part of the FAO Aquaculture Branch. Danielle has worked for NOAA for over 10 years, in a multitude of capacities, including working as the Deputy Director of the Office of Aquaculture, as the NMFS Chief of Staff for Operations, in the role of NMFS liaison to the Under Secretary of Commerce for Oceans and Atmosphere and in the Offices of Legislative Affairs, Law Enforcement, Sustainable Fisheries.

Prior to her time at NOAA, she taught for the Sea Education Association’s, Sea Semester program for five years, sailing the high seas teaching undergraduate students. Danielle holds a Master’s in Marine Affairs from the University of Washington, and a BSc. in Marine Science from the University of Maine.
