Prof. Li Jiale is the Vice President of Shanghai Ocean University and the Dean of the Graduate School. He has been engaging in teaching in aquaculture, scientific research and technology promotion on aquaculture germplasm resources and seed production. He has supervised more than 130 graduate students, including 23 PhD students. He has bred three new varieties of aquaculture species approved by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs. Additionally, he has published more than 430 papers, including more than 120 papers indexed by the Science Citation Index, and filed more than 20 patents. He has won the second prize of National Science and Technology Progress Award once and the first prize of Shanghai Science and Technology Progress Award three times.
He holds the following professional positions: the director of the Teaching Steering Committee of the Ministry of Education in Aquaculture and Fisheries; the director of the Freshwater Aquaculture Branch Committee of China Society of Fisheries; and the director of the Key Laboratory of Freshwater Aquatic Germplasm Resources of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs. He is the associate editor for the Aquaculture and Fisheries, Journal of Fisheries of China, and Journal of Fishery Sciences of China. He has published more than 10 books, including Pond Culture, Breeding of Aquatic Animals, and Exotic Aquatic Animals and Plants in China.
